Eternal Love

When I was young and coming of age in South Philadelphia, I would often visit my cousin Jack  and Diane. Their homes were places of solace, love and family.  Jack and Diane were big and tall. The mirrows in their homes were all hung much higher than the typical Italian family of that time. I remember the honey they used to sweeten their tea contained in a small flowered bowl on their kitchen table.   It started my lifelong discovery and love of scores of honey types.  It also was a metaphor for the sweetness they brought to the many lives they touched. I remember their love of learning and how they helped me with my homework.  Diane would type my reports after I researched the subjects with Jack's guidance.  Diane and Jack had all the characteristics we associate with admirable people: compassion, kindness, leadership, love, intellect and responsibility.  Diane and Jack were my life-long role models.   I came to realize they were not only tall, they were, in fact, giants.
