Obituary for Matthew J. Distasio

Matthew J. Distasio
DISTASIO
MATTHEW J.; February 19, 2018; age 36, died at his home on Waverly Street, Philadelphia after living courageously with colorectal cancer for two and a half years. Born on June 5, 1981, he was a kind, handsome, ambitious, and devoted husband beloved by his (adoring and older) wife Erin (Corna). Matt was the most doting father to his two girls, Nina (6) and Ariana (2) and a loving son of proud parents, Amerigo (Rick) and Donna (Bertele) Distasio; adored grandson of Josephine Distasio (deceased) and Edward (deceased) and Dorothy Bertele (96); dear brother of Emerick (Jennifer) Distasio and Nicole (Sean) Sprigg; and admired brother in law of Ellen (Robert) McConnell and Michael Dortenzo. He is also survived by many loving uncles, nieces/nephews, family, and friends. Matt was a graduate of Saint Francis University and Penn State University where he proudly earned his MBA. He was an active parishioner at Saint Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Philadelphia. He especially loved to dote on his girls, play basketball and ride motorcycles, help neighbors with his tools, and serve as a mentor at work. Relatives and friends will be received at the MONTI-RAGO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2531-35 S. BROAD STREET, PHILADELPHIA on Sunday February 25 from 3-5 P.M. and Monday February 26 from 9-10 A.M. followed by an 11 A.M. Funeral Mass at the National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia, Broad and Ellsworth Sts, and Catholic internment at the historical Laurel Hill Cemetery. Matt requested donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
