Obituary for Vincent Massara

MASSARA
VINCENT; passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 1, 2022. He is survived by his wife Leslie of 24 years, his two sons Darren and Christopher, his siblings Carl and Dora, and his grandchildren Mia and Luca.

Beloved by everyone he interacted with, Vince led a dynamic and full life. Immigrating from Sicily in 1947, Vince’s path led him across many worlds and occupations. From shoemaking in New York City and Philadelphia, serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and guarding a four star general in the U.S. Army, to General Manager of the Playboy Club in New York City, to constructing hospitals in Miami, running restaurants and bars, to building some of Philadelphia’s most loved restaurants, with everything Vince did, he led with his heart and gave his all.

Generous with his love, he supported his family deeply. His interest in people showed no bounds and his warm spirit lit up every room he entered. He had a unique ability to relate and contribute to the lives of folks from all walks of life. His spirit will live on in the hearts of the people that he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2022 from 10AM to 1PM at THE MONTI-RAGO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2531-35 SOUTH BROAD ST. Vincent will be laid to rest at a later date in his home town of Capo D'Orlando, Sicily. Vince was always looking to share his knowledge and contribute to bettering the lives of others through mentorship and teaching. To continue his legacy, we have set up a scholarship fund in Vince’s name with YouthBuild Philly. This fund will support young-adults in furthering their skills and abilities in building and construction.
