Obituary for Salvatore A. Merlino
On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, Salvatore Merlino, beloved husband of Janine (nee Ghanayem), and loving father of Jill (Alan) Chilcote, and the late Craig Merlino, passed away at the age of 73.
Sal was born in Philadelphia on August 7, 1947. He worked as a tool and die maker for most of his career.
Sal’s passions included spoiling “his bride”, spending time with his grandchildren, lounging in his pool and cooking for his buddy Richie.
Sal was preceded in death by his father Henry, his mother Rita, his brother Henry, and his son Craig. He is survived by his wife Janine, his daughter Jill, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his twin brother Joseph Merlino, his sister Rita (James) Mullen, many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A memorial service and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sal’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Mantua VFW Post, 8 New York Avenue, Mantua Township, N.J. 08051.
