Obituary for Lisa Ianni (Mirarchi)

Lisa A. Ianni, nee Mirarchi, passed away on August 26, 2023, at the age of 66. She was the cherished wife of Joseph Ianni and a devoted mother to Joseph Jr. (Jennifer) Ianni and Christopher Charles (Lily Sgro) Ianni. Lisa was also the loving mother of the late Baby Nicholas Charles Ianni. She was born to the late Honorable Charles P. Mirarchi, Jr. and Josephine (nee Salvatore) Mirarchi.

Lisa's family held a special place in her heart. She was a beloved daughter, sister, and sister-in-law. She is survived by her sisters MaryJo Craig, Janice (Peter) Mirarchi. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles P. Mirarchi III (“CP”), her sister Gina Steiner and, is also remembered by her sister-in-law Adelaide “Cookie” Mirarchi. Lisa's presence will be greatly missed by her dear friend and caretaker, Patty Teti, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lisa was born on August 20, 1957, in South Philadelphia, and graduated from Saint Maria Goretti High School.

After having several part time jobs as a teenager, including working at Woolworth’s and Gimbels, she settled into a career as an administrative assistant with the School District of Philadelphia for 37 years.

It was there where she developed many relationships with teachers, principals, and administrators while earning the reputation of the “go-to person” to get things done.

Although she was committed to and enjoyed her work outside of her home, her primary focus and dedication was to her family along with her extended family of neighbors and friends. She would do anything for her family – and especially enjoyed preparing meals while entertaining them at home. Through her compassion and generosity, Lisa would be there ready to assist in any way possible, without even being asked. With a joyful and soaring spirit, she genuinely became known as that special person who was always there lending a guiding hand.

Lisa was devoted to her faith, serving as a CCD Instructor and Eucharistic Minister for many years at her parish, Mary Mother of the Redeemer. She very frequently volunteered her time to attend various events while helping raise funds for projects including Inn Dwelling and the Homeless Shelter.

Her strength and courage were quite evident during her 22-year valiant battle with breast cancer, with the past 11 years enduring metastatic breast cancer. She relentlessly fought not to have her lifestyle change, never complained about her illness, nor felt sorry for herself. She was a true warrior, a hero, and she will be dearly missed. She was a true blessing to all of us, and she will be forever in our hearts.

Lisa's warm and caring nature touched the lives of those around her, and she will be remembered with love and fondness by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to be a part of her life.

A visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2023, starting at 9:00 AM at the Church of St. Monica located at 17th and Ritner Sts. in Philadelphia, PA. A funeral mass in honor of Lisa's life will follow at 10:30 AM. The interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Lisa's memory to Unite for Her at 127 East Chestnut Street, West Chester, PA 19380, as well as to Vitas Hospice Unit located at 1300 Wolf Street, 2nd Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19148. These donations will help honor Lisa's legacy by supporting causes that were important to her.
