Josephine L. Martella (“Aunt Jo & Josie”), age 86, beloved Mother and Grandmother went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. She was born on January 11, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, born to Carmen and Concetta Vona. She is survived by her sons, Edward Martella and wife Rhonda of Henrico, VA; and Joseph Martella and wife Barbara of West Deptford, NJ; grandsons, Collin Martella of Cyfair, Texas; Steven Martella of Henrico, VA and Chase Martella of West Deptford, NJ; granddaughter Alexis Martella of Henrico, VA; brother, Tony Vona of Lansdale PA; and sister, Rita Tropiano of Williamstown NJ. Josie was predeceased by her husband, Edward Martella; brothers, John, Jimmy, and Orlando Vona; sisters, Philomena Maiaroto, Gilda Ondrejka and Frances Conner.

Josie was much loved by her family especially her grandchildren and all of her nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was a tenacious woman and her funny remarks and presence will be deeply missed by many. Our family is comfortable in the knowledge that she is finally reunited with her devoted husband who she pined for over the past 36 years. Relatives and friends are invited to a socially distant visitation with Josephine's family (requiring a mask) on Saturday, June 13, 2020 beginning at 9 A.M. at St. Monica's Church, 17th and Ritner Sts., followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 A.M.
