Obituary for Joseph C. Mezzatesta
Joseph Carmen Mezzatesta (5/11/1930-9/24/2022) Loving husband of the late Catherine (nee Campisi), devoted father to Michael, Joseph (Mary), Trish, Michelle (Gavin). Proud Pop Pop to Jessica, Ethan, Joey, Alyssa, Nicole and Melina. Predeceased by his father Michael, mother Mary, brothers Lenny (“Perna”) and Franny. A loving uncle to Maria, Frank and Danielle. Also devoted cousin, friend and neighbor.
Joe was definitely a character and friend to all who knew him, joking and telling many life stories. Joe began his career working at Babe’s Cafe, his family’s tap room. After marrying the love of his life, Catherine, he worked at PSFS Bank and eventually landed at Sun Ship before retiring to spend his years with his family and eventual grandchildren, of which he was extremely proud.
Services will be held Wednesday September 28, 2022 at Monti- Rago Funeral Home (2531 South Broad Street) from 7-9 pm; Thursday September 29, 2022. 8-9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation BVM Church, 1511 South 10th Street, Philadelphia. Family respectfully requests wearing of masks during viewing and mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joseph to Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church (1511 South 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147) or American Cancer Society.
