June 28, 2022, Age 82, Beloved husband of Analyn (nee Langsdorf). Dear friend of Sophie Gasoncon of France. Loving cousin of Rev. Kevin Nadolski, O.S.F.S. Brother of Robert, Joseph, Thomas, and Michael Bannon, and Brenda Cormican and Deborah Shepard. Also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Devoted pet parent of Gabby. John was a lifetime civil servant, working 32 years at the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, where he assiduously defended the Constitution and rule of law. Arguing and briefing more than 50 cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeal, John claimed his proudest professional moments as standing to speak the words: “May it please the Court. My name is John Bannon, and I represent the United States in this case.” John earned the following advanced degrees: M.A. from Villanova University in political science; Ph.D. from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in social science; J.D. from The Law School of the University of Notre Dame; and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2022, 9:30 A.M. at The Church of Old St. Mary’s, 252 S. 4th St., Phila., PA, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions be made in John’s Memory to Old St. Mary’s Church.
