Obituary for Elizabeth A. Keels (Fazio)

Elizabeth Anne Theresa Fazio Keels (affectionately known as “Liz” or “Lizzie”) passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022. The only child of Anthony and Rose Fazio (both predeceased), Liz grew up surrounded by her large Italian family, with many cousins who were like siblings. Liz was an award-winning elementary school teacher in the School District of Philadelphia for 47+ years -- she was beloved by her students and her colleagues and was a constant source of joy and encouragement in their lives. Liz was a dedicated spouse to her husband, Edward Keels, for 43 years. She was also a fabulous mother, always being the first to give her kids a standing ovation after a performance, attending every sporting event, and befriending every one of their teachers and friends.

After retiring from full-time teaching, Liz enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, including many "gallivants" out shopping and "grabbing a bite to eat." Most recently, she loved devoting her time to her four grandchildren, her "doll babies." Every Christmas, she would arrive with contractor bags full of gifts for them, she would send them encouraging notes and messages, and she constantly asked to "give the kids a kiss for me." No matter the circumstances, Liz always made whomever she was with feel like the most important person in the room. She was always there for her friends and family - in her words - "big and bold."

Liz leaves behind her loving husband, Edward Keels, her children, Lisa Lowenstein (Jeff) and Eddie Keels (Elise), and four adoring grandchildren: Mariella Lowenstein, Raelle Keels, Luke Lowenstein, and Sydney Keels. Liz also leaves a number of sibling-like cousins and other dear family members and friends who absolutely loved her and already feel her strong presence from the other side.
