Obituary for Carmen W. "Sonny" Franchetti

CARMEN W. "SONNY"; May 30, 2021.Beloved husband of 24 years to Theresa (nee Politano). Devoted father of Mary, Derek (Lisa), and Carmen. Loving grandfather of Alyssa. Brother of Joann (the late Dukie) Devito, Linda (the late Raymond) Dey, Rita (Charlie) Cerecino, Denise (Jose) Franchetti, Louis (Rose) Franchetti, and the late Cheryl (the late John) Nazzario. Brother-in-law of Catherine (the late John) Student, Mary Politano, and Gina DeVito. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. Sonny was formerly employed by the School Board of Philadelphia for many years. He also worked as a building engineer at 1845 Walnut St. He was an avid sports fan and loved all the Philadelphia Teams. He loved singing and was a big Elvis fan. Singing was his passion. He was a born entertainer and never shied away from a microphone. Back in the day, you could always find him singing karaoke at the Penrose. He loved to play all sports especially hockey and stickball. Sonny loved animals especially his dogs! His “sunny” personality will be sadly missed by anyone who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to his VIEWING THURSDAY EVENING 7-9 PM. at THE MONTI-RAGO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2531-35 SOUTH BROAD STREET and FRIDAY, 9:30 A.M. at The Church of St. Richard, 18th and Pollock Sts., followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests Mass cards.
