Bill. Was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on April 19th, 1933. He attended Drake University, and after his service in the Army, he came to the Philadelphia area as assistant innkeeper at the newly opened Treadway Inn, St. Davids, PA. After some years there he joined the staff of Calico Corners in Wayne, PA.

After Bill retired from Calico, he continued his passion of making patchwork quilts. Some of his creations were distributed at the Philadelphia VA Hospital where Bill volunteered for several years. Other quilts were worn in a series of weekly contests at the Five Point Coffee shop in Upper Darby. Bill also made several hundred cloth bags to be filled with gifts and distributed at St. Mark’s Soup Bowl on Christmas.

Bill is survived by his life partner of 52 years, Daniel Devlin. Also survived by a brother John of Storm Lake and a niece Susan Hanley of Salem, Oregon.
