A. ELLIOT, JR.; December 12, 2020. Elliot was loved by those whom he helped to change their lives and those of their families. Most recently through the creation of the MicroEnterprise Institute for the disadvantaged at Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida. He also founded Small Business Development Center Network for the entire state of Maryland that provides counseling for aspiring entrepreneurs of every income level. Elliot enjoyed helping young people get started in life and was an Adjunct Professor at Villanova, Widener, and Temple Universities. He was a graduate of Widener and earned his M.S. Degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Elliot loved to sail and founded the Union League Yacht Club to bring together like-minded members of the League. He was also a member of the Colonial Society of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the Revolution, the St. Nicholas Society of the City of New York, the Netherlands Society of Pennsylvania, the German Society of Pennsylvania, the Welsh Society of Philadelphia, the Savoy Company, and an Associate Member of the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia. He is also an eleventh generation scion of Wilhelm Rittenhouse who founded the first paper mill an America in 1690 at Germantown and Elliot was a member of Historic Rittenhouse Town in Fairmount Park. He is survived by a brother Dale L. Rittenhouse and his family of Scottsdale, AZ and a sister Joyce R. Sickman and her family of Jacksonville, FL. Interment will be in the Columbarium of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Rittenhouse Square.
